U Got Soul

Let’s jump into our handy time machines and hop back to the 60’s and 70’s with this funk-driven, upbeat club hit, “U Got Soul.” Sure to get the crowd dancing, Miranda has given her fans something special that will turn any frown upside down and have them rocking to the vibes with the soul power of this song.

Pushing a Reggae beat, a funky, whirly, organ, a grooving bass, choppy guitars, Nathalie Miranda blasts her powerful alto voice over the band with a fast-paced lyrical delivery, proving layered harmonies over her soul-filled chorus. With horns accenting the groove, the musicality has every ingredient necessary to dish out the funk revival we all have so desperately needed.

About the Lyrics

Nathalie keeps the lyrics simple and fun in this dance track. The song opens with her speaking “Cuz if you got soul, then you got it all,” which brings in the band. The first verse tells the story of two lovers inspiring each other by saying they can accomplish their goals because they have soul.

The second verse, tells another story of a single mother, down on her luck having lost her job, and - with the power of soul - getting back on her feel.

The final verse talks about blocking out the noise, being yourself, and digging within you to find that “soul power” to overcome life’s hardships.

It’s a simple enough message and one that we all need to remember, for sure.

Final Thoughts

There are definitely some musical elements of note in this, particularly through the vocal performance of Nathalie Miranda. The instrumentals all do their job to bring back the groove, but Miranda really sells it with her passion in relaying the message of the song. “U got Soul,” isn’t a complicated piece of music. It is pure, simple fun. Vocally, Miranda entertains us with story, power, and rhythm.

Ask yourselves: “Do I like to dance?” If your answer is yes, you’re in luck. If your answer is no, then I bet you’re a liar and I can prove it with a full length mirror, a pair of socks, a hard floor surface, and a camera. Everybody loves to dance. It doesn’t matter if we are good or bad at it. Dancing is good for our health. It’s good for our “soul,” if one chooses to say. So, the next time you find yourself in a dancing mood, “U Got Soul” just might be the song to get you grooving.
