37. Single Review of You Could Change by SeedSquatch featuring Muck Sticky

About the Artist

“I think Bigfoot is blurry and that’s extra scary to me. Because that means there’s a large, out of focus creature roaming the countryside. ‘Run! Get out of here! He’s fuzzy!’” Mitch Hedburg

So, I honestly didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I hit play on You Could Change by the artist Seedsquatch, featuring Muck Sticky. However, 30 seconds into the song, I knew I would be writing about it.

Seedsquatch is a “hairy songwriting creature that enjoys growing ganja and sharing his knowledge of life to others who care to listen.” This from the elusive humanoid primate himself.

Seedsquatch Looks to be a project to make an independent film and, along the way, music is being made. In addition to “You Could Change,” you can hear their newest release Rainbow here and you can catch a glimpse of him in the wild here on Instagram.

His less hairy sidekick, Muck Sticky, is a Memphis-based recording artist who has more than made a name for himself. With more than 100 million streams, and a world record for most consecutive days to wear pajamas, he has famously got where he is from being himself and exhibiting positivity through his performance.

About the Song

You Could Change is a combination of southern rock, reggae, rap, and other genres. It has a runtime of just under 4 minutes. It features acoustic guitars, bass, organ, and drums, as well as vocals from Seedsquatch and Muck Sticky. It has a style similar to Sublime.

Musically, it has a jam feel and a very uplifting flow. Instrumentally, the musicians are clearly skilled but they feature very few solo parts. They just accompany the vocalists.

Vocally, Seedsquatch provides both melodic and spoken word vocals, and Muck Sticky contributes a rap verse.

Final Thoughts

This is a fantastic, uplifting song. It encompasses the “spirit” of Seedsquatch and features so skilled musicianship. Best of all, it offers a very positive message and is filled with joy. I think Muck Sticky’s verse is some of the very best work I’ve heard from him. The verse settles right into the vibe of the song.

There is a groove about the song that is similar to the song All the Way Up to Heaven by Guster. This is the exact kind of chill vibe that music needs in our world today. Seedsquatch has reminded us that performance can be celebratory and it doesn’t always have to be so serious. So, grab a stool, throw on your favorite pair of pajama pants, and remember: when jamming with a yeti in your jammies, don’t mess up the rotation. Puff, puff, pass.

Make sure to check out the official Seedsquatch website as they continue to raise funds for an independent film chronicling the legacy that is Seedsquatch. Donate if you can!
