36. August Recap

Originally published August 30th, 2024 What Happened in August? Hello FMOF community and welcome to our SECOND monthly recap! Looking back at how thrilled I was of our first month’s success, suffice it to say, I am ecstatic about our growth since that time. As our community expands, little by little, I am meeting great people, hearing great music, and I’m along for the ride as I watch each and every one of you grow and reach your untapped potentials. In the month of August, FMOF published FIFTEEN   new blogs.  In the states, we expanded our represented list to artists from Georgia and Pennsylvania, Maine, Missouri, Washington (twice) and New Jersey, Alabama, Virginia and D.C, and another artist from New York and California.  Internationally, we reviewed artists from Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Australia, The Netherlands, and Denmark. For a grand total of 31 reviews, FMOF have reached artists in 15 States (and one District) and we have extended our international reach to 8 countries

35. Single Preview of North Star by AiramFM

Originally Published August 27th, 2024 About the Artist AiramFM is a pop singer/songwriter from Denmark. At 25 years of age, she is demonstrating a capacity to manage several aspects of being an independent recording artist as she writes, composes, records, and produces all of her own music. Though music has always been a part of who she is, AiramFM didn’t start releasing music until 2022, after the passing of her mother. At 46, her mother lost a battle with cancer. A writer and singer herself, her mother would always encourage her to share her music with those that would listen. To honor that advice, AiramFM started doing just that. She has since released 16 singles and on the 30th of August, she will be releasing her 17th, North Star. Please be sure to like and follow AiramFM on all of her social media platforms like  threads ,  instagram , and  Facebook . About the Song North Star is a pop song with a run time of 3 minutes and 40 seconds. More specifically, it could fit into electro

34. Album Preview of Tales of a Failed Altruist by Han

Originally published August 27th, 2024 About the Artist There are many opinions on the definition of life. Medically, to be alive is defined by a group of categories where biological matter must meet qualifications: living things must metabolize, grow, reproduce, move, respond to stimulation, maintain equilibrium, biologically organize, and we must adapt. So says accredited  encyclopedias , medical dictionaries, etc. To me, some of the most incredible things in life are the inorganic things that possess some of the same attributes. Like music, for example. Music may not be living, but it is alive. Han is the  Dr. Frankenstein  to this analogy. He brings inorganic life to a culture where we have so much content it begs the question, “have we come too far?” Han  is a recording artist, producer, and engineer originally from the Bay Area in Northern California. I usually like to ask for a little bit of background information from artists I intend to review or sometimes I will go on and try

32. Album Review of Strawflower Lane by The Duskwhales

Originally Published on August 20th, 2025 About the Artist These last two months have really been special. The diversity of musicianship has been surprising. I thought I was going to be impressed and that I would find talented musicians. I just did not anticipate to find as many genuinely talented artists in such little time. One of these genuinely talented artists are  The Duskwhales . I can also say I did not expect to hear this sound. This band could have been a sensation in the 60’s and 70’s. Yet, it doesn’t appear that even one of the members were born even twenty years after that; maybe longer.  The Duskwhales represent the DC area, originating from Manassas, Virginia. They classify themselves as an Indie Rock band, but their genre would be closer to that of a British Invasion rock band. More recent similarities could be  The Flaming Lips ,  De Novo Dahl , or  Of Montreal , though the similarities to these groups are vague at best. They are more closely related to bands like  Ele

31. Single Review of Ornithology by Sprawler FU

She gets inspiration from artists like  Tori Amos ,  Björk , and  St. Vincent .  Her sound is a style that would be applicable today all the way back to the 1980’s.  Make sure to check out Sprawler FU on  Instagram , Spotify, and  Threads . About the Song Ornithology  is a experimental pop song with a run time of just over three and a half minutes. It was released July 19, 2024. It was performed and produced by Sprawler FU. It demonstrates superior production quality by

30. Preview of forthcoming EP, One, by Only Monsters

Originally published, August 15th, 2024 About the Artist Only Monsters  Is the stage name for Hayden. When Hayden isn’t cutting into the hearts and souls of his fans with his dark, brooding, post-gothic darkwave music, he can be found in a high school classroom teaching social studies. He is from the Washington area and he decided to put down the chalk and pick up the mic because he found music as a way to reflect and work through his observiation of society; the positive and the negative. Only Monsters have been releasing music since 2023. Their debut LP,  Influence  released in 2023 and he followed it with the release of  No One Hears, No One Sees  in 2024. Stylistically, his sound has progressed from a more organic folk-punk sound to the more electronic darkwave that he features today. Only Monsters exhibits a dark and intimidating presence musically, but make no mistake; Hayden is more than just that. He is more than a teacher. Speaking with him, he is a passionate person. Not that

29. Single Review of Where Did the Westerners Go by Joseph Culpepper

Originally published August 13th, 2024 About the Artist Man, my dad and I were like oil and water. The resentment started when he had the audacity to move our family from the only home I ever knew to Nashville, Tennessee midway through my 6th grade year of school (you know, the least awkward time of an adolescent childhood…. not) but extended throughout my twenties and into my thirties. First there was the moving when I was a kid. Then there was the chain-smoking in our house after my mom was twice diagnosed with breast cancer. Losing his job, and constantly drinking from sun up to sun down; deliberately refusing to help my mom with the bills and leaving the second he knew the bars were opening up so he could go drink and smoke with his buddies, play poker, and shoot pool. We disagreed on fashion, music, movies, politics, religion, oxygen, and everything else.  In spite of our differences, we had an understanding of one another. My father was a remarkably intelligent person and he love

28. Single Review of Black History by Chï

Originally published August 12, 2024 About the Artist “I just want to change lives with my music.” This is a sentiment that many artists desire when they create. Somewhere along the way, for many, it gets lost. I personally started out that way. Then something terrible happened to me in my late teens and early twenties. Somebody, somewhere along the way, told me that I was great. Then somebody else did. Then another. And so on. And so on. I became a very young narcissist who hadn’t accomplished a thing and felt I had to prove nothing.  I didn’t know it then, but that ego boost was actually a blow that had me on the ropes. Set up perfectly for the knock out punch. I put myself out there and was then told I was good. I just wasn’t special. I didn’t stand out. There were hundreds just like me. At first, I dismissed it. But it dug in. I started making lineup changes in my band. I started changing my style I started rewriting my songs. I started chasing pop culture. As well all know, if you

27. Album Preview of Feather Led by Amble Haunt

Originally published August 7th, 2024 About the Artist Amble Haunt  is a two-man project that are currently calling Kansas, Missouri home. Frontman, Bryce Veazey and drummer Brandon Woodall are a  new band and already, they are producing a sound that reveals peak potential. “Music has a way of haunting. Lyrics, rhythms, and melodies can live in the atmosphere around our lives for decades.” Amble Haunt begins their bio in Spotify by saying this to explain their name. As I read their bio and listened to Feather Led, I began to hear what they mean. They have a fresh new sound, with complex guitar, intricate rhythms, and a unique vocalist that helps them stand out. Today, they would most similarly compare to Utah rockers,  The Backseat Lovers . As I continued to listen, I began to feel haunted by memories of songs and bands I had heard from my past. Namely, an indie rock band from Iowa that had a flicker of mainstream success in the 00’s.  The Envy Corps  had a unique vocalist, a haunting
