What Happened in September?
I can’t believe it’s been 3 months already! Welcome to the September Recap where we will review, not only the happenings of the month of September, but we will take a look at the completion of our first ever quarter!
I’m so proud of what Fifteen Minutes of Fame has done these last three months, I can’t even stand it. Let’s take a look at September first.
I am happy to report that there have been an additional Eleven reviews published in the month of September, bringing our total to over 40 reviews published! In the States, we have added to our list Kentucky, North Carolina, and Ohio. This brings a total reach of 19 States, or roughly 40% of the country that has been represented in a review for FMOF!
Internationally, we reviewed our FIRST artist from Romania, another artist from the UK, our FIRST artist from Nigeria, and another artist from Canada! This brings our total to 10 Countries worldwide and 4 Continents!
As always, I want to thank every single artist who submitted music. There was such a vast quantity of submissions this month, it was exciting and overwhelming! I hope that we can continue to grow on the will to reach as many listeners as possible. I would like to recognize the artists who were reviewed in the month of September:
This incredible lineup of musicians showcased a tremendous diversity within the FMOF community as they represent artists from generations spanning from the 80’s to the present, multicultural, multilingual, and a completely diverse selection of genres. There was jam band, electronic/techno, Darkwave, pop punk, folk, R&B, Rap, 80’s Rock, Adult Contrmporary, and Grunge.
I will admit, in the first two months, there were more reviews written. Bare with me as I try to gain my footing. FMOF will always be focused on the reviews aspect of our project. But we are also looking at maintaining relevance and expanding on that vision, which is partly the cause of the reduction in reviews. Because….
I am happy to report, we posted our first TWO Fifteen Minutes of Fame videos! They have been posted on our newly launched Fifteen Minutes of Fame YouTube Channel. I personally want to thank LuisG and Han for contributing their time for our First Two Interviews!!!
First, Luis and I discussed topics like the launch of projects like FMOF, the effects of AI’s use in the music industry, and his recent release of “Second Chances.” You can view the interview here.
Then Han and I took some time discussing his hard hitting, deeply honest release “Tales of a Failed Altruist,” which you can view here
In addition to that, FMOF launched its REELS campaign, an effort to create Reels on Instagram and Facebook utilizing FMOF alumni music exclusively! There were a total of Five new Reels posted. You can view them here, here, here, here, and here.
My How We’ve Grown!
After showing an incredible cycle of growth in our first two months, Fifteen Minutes of Fame continues to grow and expand its digital and social media footprint! That’s very exciting news as it means that more and more readers/listeners are being exposed to your music every day, every week, and every month! Here is how we’ve done:
The Blog:
In September, there were JUST under 1,000 visits. Since its beginning on the 1st of July, there have been 3,369 readers to view our blog! There have been more than 40 comments left on the blogs alone!
I see a very positive trend happening on a monthly basis where it looks like we are getting a little more than 1,000 views per month. There is still an opportunity with generating more traffic by ensuring comments are being left in the comment fields of the blogs themselves. Try to encourage your readers to leave comments on your reviews! Also, don’t be shy; post a comment on your own review. Let me know how you thought I did! Let’s get conversations started on some of these posts.
Another area of opportunity is that there is an option to follow the blog. An option that hasn’t been taken by anybody yet. I strongly encourage you to, not only follow my profile, but encourage your fans to do the same!
Social Media:
The month of September was the month of milestones as we achieved goals in followed on Threads, Instagram, AND Facebook!
First, we’ll start with Facebook. Since last month’s total of 93 followers, we grew more than 18%, surpassing the goal of 100 followers by ending up with 110 followers!
On Instagram, last month we had 465 followers. We grew more than 17%, surpassing a goal of 500 followers, rounding our final total off to be 546!
On Threads, last month we had 940 followers. We grew nearly 10%, surpassing a goal of 1,000 followers, rounding our final total off to be 1,043!
For the quarter, we’ve seen Facebook’s followers grow 55%, Instagram’s followers grow 65%, and Threads followers grow 219%!!!
Thank you so much for these outstanding efforts to make Fifteen Minutes of Fame grow and reached a greater audience.
Additional Growth:
Earlier, I mentioned our Reels initiative. In its first month, the posted Reels earned nearly 2,000 views with almost 200 likes, comments and shares! YouTube has had 30 views and 3 likes and comments. There is definitely some opportunities here to get the ball rolling on these new potential platforms of exposure.
A note about the Reels:
I want to encourage EVERYONE to participate! I would love to see some of the ideas you all come up with! Just make sure you hit your posts with #fmof
What’s Next?
October Campaign:
Tomorrow, I will be posting to request submissions for our October campaign! This is the bloat active format we have for expanding the FMOF community so, if you know any independent artists who have had releases in September, please urge them to reach out! We will be taking submission as early as September 1st.
As always, I am going to encourage my 3 asks: when posting about Fifteen Minutes of Fame, use the #fmof hashtag.
If you have your work reviewed, be creative with how you market with the review
Visit the blog and view another artist’s review. Follow them, message them, listen to their music, and leave comments on their review on the blog!
October Interviews:
We have two more upcoming interviews from our FMOF alumni. They are being scheduled to take place in the upcoming weeks so, be on the lookout for opportunities to meet these incredible artists!
Reels Challenge:
I have a lot of ideas for more Reels. Be on the lookout as more of these posts come up! Make sure you engage and participate! I would love to see somebody else post a Reel!
Spotify and Apple Playlists
Admittedly, this has been my biggest struggle to maintain. However, I will make it my MISSION to properly manage these playlists! Make sure to follow them!
New Logo???
Does anybody have an idea for a “Fifteen Minutes of Fame” group logo? I am looking for any creative types by way of web design who might want to submit their ideas for a logo. If interested, reach out to me on instagram and maybe we can come up with an idea to incentivize a selected work!
Wrapping Things Up…
I am beyond proud of the first quarter of Fifteen Minutes of Fame. We have see. A little community grow into something extraordinary and it continues to grow! I’m seeming more instances where our community are, not only interacting with me, but interacting with each other. That’s what Fifteen Minutes of Fame is all about. That’s the goal, that’s the mission, that’s the dream. One community lifting each member up.
Remember, Fifteen Minutes of Fame has two meanings: to have independent artists see an influx in listeners and fan reception with their music. The other is an individual task for every member of our community: designate fifteen minutes of time to helping independent artists in our community. Whether it’s fifteen minutes a day, week, or month. Whatever works best for you. Just try to commit to fifteen minutes. Maybe that’s listening to a playlist or specific artist. Maybe that’s reading a blog and commenting. Maybe that’s making and posting a Reel. Just try to find fifteen minutes to give to our community.
That is all I got for you!
