Funny Peculiar by Unbelievable Truth
About the Artist
If you read Fifteen Minutes of Fame reviews, chances are you’ve heard me talking about Unbelievable Truth. Growing up a young musician, and fan of alternative and progressive rock in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, my love for British rock led me to the discovery of this incredible Oxford band. Once mainstream, Unbelievable Truth became a champion for independent music after their departure from Virgin Records.
Right after releasing their sensational album, sorrythankyou, they went on hiatus to pursue other ventures like attending university, subsequent side projects, and solo recording work. They released a B-Sides album and would occasionally reunite to play a concert. Until 2024, when after the long break, they released Almost Here (Live), to celebrate the anniversary of their famous debut LP.
Since then, Unbelievable Truth have been back together. Playing shows, releasing music. Releasing their best music to date. Fifteen Minutes of Fame reviewed their recent EP release, Citizens Band, which released on March 21st of this year. Additionally, I had the privilege of sitting down with Andy and Nigel in a special edition interview to discuss the EP and the upcoming release of their third LP, slated for the fall. We even filmed a Blind Reaction for their music video to their song, Chemtrails.
About the Song
Funny Peculiar is a single by UK band, Unbelievable Truth, released on June 20th, 2025. It is the first release to follow their EP, Cotizens Band, and is the first single ahead of the release of their upcoming album, Rich Inner Life, which will release at the end of September. It was recorded by Unbelievable Truth and released under Noosphere Records.
Funny Peculiar, is a moving, groovy song that showcases expert instrumental performance, offers intriguing moments of melodical dissonance as well as rhythmic syncopation that keeps listeners focused in its resolve.
I love the intro to this song, the bells, the guitar and how it just pours into the song as the full band comes in. Yorke’s vocals are particularly impressive in this song, as they have experimented with different layering techniches, delays, and harmonizations.
The song plays over syncopated accents throughout most of the song, with the exception of the bridge which opens up the song and brightens the melody, before going into the final chorus. The build to the epic finale of this song is thrilling, complex, and wonderful.
Unbelievable Truth have continued their path to rediscovery as they are releasing the very best music of what I consider to be a stellar catalog of performance. This song is scary good. Hearing it only makes me all the more eager for the release of this album.

About the Song
Eyes of Fire (Oh, Woman) is the 8th single release by London-based independent recording artist, MYRY. Releasing on June 20th, it is just over two minutes, it features a vocal performance by MYRY. It was produced and released by Chapter 137 Records.
About the Music
Eyes of Fire (Oh, Woman) is lowkey, mid-tempo song performed primarily on piano with organic and light drum percussions. It is highlighted by a strong vocal performance by MYRY, with both lead and backing arrangements.
Eyes of Fire is emotionally charged, liberating, and provocative. It’s intent is a well-received message of women garnering strength in reclaiming their independence. It is a roar amongst the quiet demeanor of the song. It feels like an awakening and the instrumental arrangement is expertly done. It may be one of the best examples of a “quiet build” I’ve ever heard in a song. The way the drums build to a crescendo to the climax of the song, it is magnificent.
Eyes of Fire is a stripped down song but it possesses complexities that extend far beyond the music. It is emotionally profound. This song breathes and has a beating heart. It is alive. It resonates long after the final chord is played. It’s a touching message not meant for a soap box, but a gentle tap on the shoulder. This is a fantastic song.
